Reading Time Estimates
The estimated reading minutes are calculated from word count and an average reading speed. For example, a book with 50,000 words might take about 217 minutes, but you can adjust based on your own pace.
Choose a book, record where you are, and set a daily goal. Your progress is stored in localStorage in this browser; it is not uploaded to a user account.
If the EPUB has no fixed print pagination, the tool starts with an estimated page count and lets you replace it with the page total shown by your own reader.

The reading tool provides estimates and structural details to help you plan your reading sessions. Based on the median word count of about 57,000 words, a typical book takes around 248 minutes to read, but individual titles vary.
Each book's page shows its exact word count, estimated reading time, number of text sections, and average sentence length. Use these to decide how to fit a book into your schedule or to understand its writing style before starting.
The estimated reading minutes are calculated from word count and an average reading speed. For example, a book with 50,000 words might take about 217 minutes, but you can adjust based on your own pace.
Books are grouped into short, medium, long, or epic by word count. Most books fall into the medium range, but you'll find a few shorter reads and several longer epics.
Based on reading time, books are labeled as quick, steady, immersive, or marathon. This helps you pick a book that fits your available reading windows.
The Reading Tracker is designed to help you plan your reading in terms of pages, not sections or minutes. Progress is recorded by current page, total pages, and a daily page goal. This simple approach works well for books of any length, because you can adjust the goal to fit your schedule.
If a fixed page count is not available for a title, the tracker uses an initial estimate based on a words-per-page value of 250. You can replace that estimate with the total page count from your own reading app or edition, which is especially useful for books with non-standard formatting.
The default daily goal is 20 pages, but you can change it. For a book like Whispering Walls — Key Ideas to Explore, which has a word count of 45,776, the initial page estimate would be about 184 pages (45,776 divided by 250, rounded up). At 20 pages per day, that would take about 10 days to finish.
If you prefer a slower pace, you might set a goal of 10 pages per day, which would extend the reading time to about 19 days. The tracker calculates the estimated finish days as the remaining pages divided by the daily goal, rounded up. This can help you decide whether a book fits your available time.
The estimated remaining time is proportional: it is the estimated minutes multiplied by the remaining pages divided by the total pages. So if you are halfway through a book, the remaining time is half of the original estimate. This is a useful way to see how much time you have left, without needing to track minutes yourself.
The page count can vary between editions. If your copy of Whispering Walls has 200 pages instead of the estimated 184, you can update the total page count in the tracker. The remaining time and finish days will adjust accordingly. This flexibility is important because page layouts differ widely.
The tracker stores your progress history in the browser's local storage, so you do not need an account. You can close the page and return later, and your progress will be saved. This makes it easy to keep track of multiple books if you are reading more than one at a time.
Using a page-based goal keeps the focus on steady progress. You do not need to calculate minutes or sections; just read your daily pages and let the tracker show you the way.
